Big Storm

Two weeks ago it was spring here: Warm days, moderate-to-strong trade winds, cool nights. Then about noon last Thursday, someone threw a switch and instant summer: hot, still, a bit muggy, flat waves. Then this Thursday night hurricane season started: pounding wind, driving rain, cold, power outages. It's not like we didn't need the rain. It has been so dry this winter. But did we have to try to make it all up in one night?

Apparently we have the huge storm that dumped snow on the East Coast this week to thank for this unseasonably cold wet weather. As of  Wednesday this storm stretched from the Canadian Maritimes to Spain and from Greenland to the Caribbean. It's been making spring-breakers' tropical vacations something less than wonderful. Those of us who live here are just saying "what the hell?"

Today is a little better. It's warmer and not bucketing rain constantly. But it's still overcast and very windy. Unfortunately, the forecast doesn't get much better for a few days. Ah, well!
