September 13, Canada Day 12, Icefield Parkway

From Takakkaw Falls we headed over the Great Divide to Lake Louise and onto the Icefield Parkway. What a difference a week made! The photo above was Saskatchewan Crossing on September 4. The photo below was taken at the same place, same mountain nine days later, on September 13. In that week the aspen trees changed from green to fall yellow.

We saw this all along the highway. A week before the mountains were carpeted in green. Today they glowed in greens and yellows.

One of our stops was a new "attraction" on the Icefield Parkway, the Glacier Skywalk. It is a glass-sided, glass-bottom walkway out over the Athabasca River valley.

There are views of the valley and the Columbia Icefield glaciers you can get any other way.

You can't even see these waterfalls except from the Skywalk and the trail leading to  it.

Without the Skywalk you wouldn't even know these existed.

We will post photos of the Icefield Parkway on Flickr very soon.
