We've launched a new web site - and a new business - from Lola's Corner.
www.puertoricosurfphoto.com went live today. It's not completely finished, but the surf photos are up. We still have to digitally process a bunch of wave and kite surf pics and get them up but this is a start. Check it out and let us know what you think. There will still be stuff for the blog and to put up on Flickr.
The new site, and rebuilding the Ola Lola's site, have sucked up a lot of time and computing power so I haven't been out shooting much. Some of the surf reports say we may get swells tomorrow. We'll see. I do have some new stuff for photo of the day and to post to Flickr. I hope to get that up tomorrow.
For now, it's been raining pretty hard here on Lola's corner. That's okay. Most of the outdoor places - including Lola's - are closed tonight and we really need the rain.
This magic thing happens when it rains. I've written before about the coquis (pronounced KO-kee), the wonderful little tree frogs here on the island. There are 17 different species of coqui. And even though I just called them "tree frogs," that's really just a discription. They are coqui and Puerto Ricans get very irate if you call them frogs. Anyway, they get their name from the sound they make - ko-KEE! ko-KEE! When it's dry, you'll hear two or three or four coqui calling in the night. Right after a rain they explode in a chorus, a symphony of layers of different coqui voices. And they are loud for such little guys (the largest coqui are about an inch-and-a- quarter, maybe an inch-and-a=half, long. Knowing full well I'm mixing metaphors, the coqui literally light up the night with their songs. That's what I'm listening to right now.
More soon.
