It's like deja vu all over again. The news today was all about the governor's plan to shut off the water in seven municipios (kind of like counties on the mainland) for 24 hours. "They" were keeping water level in Lake Guajataca - the primary source of water for our part of the island - low because of damage to the dam before, during, and after Hurricane Maria. Now were in the midst of a drought and water levels are very low. The shut-off is supposedly a means of rationing, conserving water.
We're going to have water every other day, 24 hours on, 24 hours off, indefinitely. The long range forecast is for the dry conditions to last until May. And, the Army Corps of Engineers says they aren't going to get the dam fixed until May.
Does anyone besides me think it would be a good idea to fix the dam now, while the water levels are low, before it starts raining?
(sorry - don't know why this didn't post when it was supposed to.)
